Review: Let me start to say that I'm a huge fantasy fan. Usually I enjoy sword and sorcery type of movie and find something good about it. Now let me say, wow this movie was bad. I mean, I thought it was kind of dull, lowest common denominator film died 80's. It's bad when I asked the organizers to give me a refund for free prescreening.Where to start? I did not expect much in this type of film in terms of plot or characterization. In action porn like this, the story is usually barely enough consistent to move from one action scene to another, and the characters are so black and white checkerboard. This movie somehow provides less that.It stuns me with mythology, rich and engaging to deduct tired rehash they choose Gladiator as the main focus of the film. No doubt keep more cool stuff back for future sequels. Ridiculous love story is unengaging, bad script and given too much screen space time.What made action sequences. Hercules is designed to be a demigod who achieve the impossible; the film does not represent anything about it. It wastes a lot of time with a clumsy mix of battle scenes where Hercules once captured and / or beaten. WTF? It is only at the end, which is trying to show Hercules, when he should be seen, but I shut down long before. Oddly enough, there's blood and gore in this film is minimized, perhaps to keep it PG-13, hoping to cheat as much as possible for the public money is dropping. It would really benefit from Conan Eska level of violence in the film to add more weight and better directed action sequences. The dramatic break in the middle of the action (which was made famous in the film 300) is in every scene of action. I do not know what I recommend on this film. Everything in the movie is done better in other films. I hope this movie tanks, but I doubt it. It will make a profit and to encourage all the same I'm sure. |
